Redirect your Ohio state taxes to fund Scholarships for TBAS students
The Ohio Scholarship Tax Credit gives a dollar-for-dollar state tax credit for gifts made to a certified Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO), up to $750 for individuals and $1500 for couples filing jointly. This direct credit is worth more than a tax deduction (which only lowers taxable income) because in this case every dollar of your gift is credited to you as tax already paid.
How to Participate:
1. Determine your annual Ohio Tax Liability
- Reference your most recent state-tax return, specifically page 2, line 13 of the “Ohio IT 1040” form for your Ohio Tax Liability.
- The maximum refundable payment per year cannot exceed a person’s (or couple’s) annual tax liability, which is the total owed to the state in taxes for the year.
- The maximum annual refundable payment, regardless of income,$750 for individuals and $1500 for couples filing their taxes jointly.
2. Contribute to OCEN SGO for TBAS students
- The Bridge Avenue School has chosen The Ohio Christian Education Network (OCEN) to be our official Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). Follow the link to the TBAS official granting page on the OCEN website. Your gift is to OCEN, our SGO. Our students will then apply for this scholarship money. 100% of your gift to OCEN will be used to fund TBAS student scholarships.

3. Claim your Scholarship Donation Credit on your tax form
- Upon completion of your gift to OCEN SGO, you will receive an emailed payment confirmation, which is needed for your taxes.
- Claim the exact dollar amount you paid to OCEN SGO using the form “Ohio Schedule of Credits” on line 15 of page 1.
- Include the payment confirmation when you submit your tax filing to Ohio.
